Absorbing negativity can manifest in various ways, both behaviorally and emotionally. You may notice sudden mood swings, feelings of sadness or irritability without apparent cause, or a persistent sense of heaviness. I remember a time when I could barely walk to the shop and buy groceries. I didn’t know much about being an empath or that I was absorbing the energy of people around me. These emotional shifts impacted my daily life, making it difficult to maintain a positive outlook and engage in activities that once brought joy or any activities at all.

Over time, the effects of absorbing negativity can take a toll on mental and physical health. Chronic stress, anxiety, depression, panic attacks may develop, alongside physical symptoms such as headaches, brain fog, fatigue, and insomnia. The hardest part is to set boundaries with the loved one but keep in mind that self-care is not selfish and you’re doing this for your overall well-being.   • Meditation is a powerful tool for centering and grounding yourself. By focusing on your breath and visualizing a protective shield around you, you can create a barrier between yourself and external negativity. Visualization techniques can also be used to cleanse your energy field, imagining unwanted energies dissipating into the Earth or transforming into Light.
