For example, if you, as an empath, feel anger during a conversation where you’ve been dismissed, destructive anger might come out as lashing back with unkind words which eventually might create a backfire ripple effect. Constructive anger, on the other hand, would involve you calmly yet firmly stating, “I feel unvalued when my concerns are dismissed. I’d like us to approach this with mutual respect.”

Repressing anger is like trying to contain a wildfire in a jar. When left unexpressed, anger doesn’t vanish—it turns inward, leading to anxiety, depression, physical ailments like headaches or stomach issues, or even burnout.

For us (empaths), ignoring anger often stems from a deep desire to avoid conflict or maintain harmony at all costs. But this comes at a price—emotional disconnection from oneself.

Healing begins with acknowledgment. Honor your anger by first noticing how it manifests physically. Is it tension in your shoulders? A sudden urge to cry? A burning feeling in your chest?
